    KEDE introduces a brand-new book:

The Adventures of Kacy Koala:

Kacy Koala Starts School!

Kacy Koala Starts School is Book 1, and it is one of many in a series about a curious koala named Kacy. It highlights Kacy's adventures as she prepares for her very first day of school. She spends time with her mom and dad and plays with her friends every day. She has new friends and old friends who enjoy playing at the playground and playing various playground games.

In Book 1 of the Kacy Koala series, Kacy wants to start school, and each day she asks her mom: "Mom, is it September yet. I want to start school!" Her mom patiently answers Kacy's questions each day until that day finally arrives!

The Adventures of Kacy Koala series is designed to encourage young readers to love books. Kacy Koala books are written to give the youngest readers the experience of reading a chapter book.

Book 1 explores months of the year and days of the week. The text is written to provide readers with opportunities to read the same sentences over and over to build fluency.

Some of the paragraphs (typed in bold print) are written in a rhythmic sequence with a flow of sounds and words to encourage the reader to use modulation when reading aloud.

At the end of the book is a list of questions to ask for a deeper understanding of the book. The next column is a resource for parents and teachers to use as a guide and teaching tool.
